THIS HURT OF MINE | Out now!

Heartbreak in the true sense of the word. This Hurt of Mine paints the picture of unreciprocated love and the pain that comes with it. Blues tinted and stripped down in its entirety, the music sets the mood and with intimately low ranged vocals Johanna delivers her deeply personal lyrics and brings the listener close to her soul telling a story from her own life.

Swedish artist and songwriter Johanna Klingfors’ music is not only refreshing in a time of industry manufactured sound but is delivered with personal, intimate low ranged vocals that immediately engages the listener. The revealing lyrics combined with excellent arrangements, a modern production, and the sound of 60s and 70s soul and R’n’B makes for an moving and engaging listen.

Music Blog Jansen’s Jamz describes the sound of Johanna’s latest release All The Same:

“By joining her retro-tinted, musical craftsmanship with a social statement about racism and discrimination, her debut single is a sumptuous sounding throwback with a modern message. The ear-tingling, blazing brass, an energizing rhythm and choral backing vocals give it a rejuvenating vibe, while her vintage-dipped, powerhouse pipes complete this empowering slice of soulful vivacity.”

This is the artist’s second release of original material. This Hurt of Mine is the second single out of 4 to be released from the EP My Soul, The Blues & Other Stories, due to be released October 2018.

ALL THE SAME

With low ranged vocals seeping with attitude, extensive arrangements and great musical craftsmanship Johanna Klingfors presents the new single All The Same. With its energizing horns, clear hooks, and empowering gospel choirs this song engages the listener in every way. All The Same calls for us to raise our voices, not to close our eyes to racism, discrimination and the all around craziness of today’s society.

“Used to be a white hood, now it’s khakis and a cap and most important is to have someone to blame”

That was the first sentence that came to the singers mind while watching the all to familiar images of the alt-right demonstration in Charlottesville in August 2017. Sweden might be far away from Charlottesville and the Tiki Torch Club, but it’s not immune, not even close. All The Same was written as a reaction to the never ending list of racist stupidity, not only in the states, but all around the world.

“We live in a time where the internet has set up a livestream in to the lives of other people, information spreads like wild fire and there’s no more excuses not to speak up. It’s out there, we know what’s going on and we have to call bullshit when we see it. That’s how this song came to be. Musically it then became clear to us that we wanted to convey that message but with hopefulness, empowerment and a bit if humor. We wanted to channel that in the arrangement and in the sound, that’s what resulted in All the Same.” – Johanna Klingfors

All the Same is the first of 4 songs from the upcoming EP My Soul, The Blues & Other stories, due to be released in full in October 2018.
